The Thrills of Online Blackjack

The dealers showing an Ace, and the player 16, what should one do? This is just one example of the dilemmas players face during the game of Blackjack. Blackjack, or 21, is a game of chance and skill. The concept is quite easy, the players wins if their number is less than or equal to 21, but higher than the dealers. Numbered cards are worth their value, face cards are worth 10, and Ace is worth one or 11, player's choice.

Players have the choice to play several variations of Blackjack. Even with traditional blackjack, the house usually makes different rules. Some common house rules and variations include deck count, hitting on soft 17, insurance, and splitting rules.

Both casinos and online houses sometimes use multiple 52-card decks. When the house uses multiple decks, it reduces the player's advantage slightly. It also makes it almost impossible for the player to count cards effectively.

Hitting on soft 17 means the casino or house must hit when their total is 17 with an Ace. Many casinos took this rule out because it reduces the house advantage. Usually the table will say whether the house hits on soft 17 or not.
