American Bingo Players Spicing up the Prizes

It seems that money is not the answer after all as American bingo players donate a wide range of prizes for the annual PEO fundraising event - you could even get your hands on a hand-made one-of-a-kind quilt if you get a full house playing there!

That's right you're not going crazy I said quilt! All the prizes for the bingo games happening at the fundraising party between 1-3pm will be quilt related and made by local individuals. Things such as wall hangings, handbags, blanket quilts and even baby quilts have all been donated as prizes for the games. To make these sought after quilts even more special they have all been made with a theme in mind - the Southwest- to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Arizona, and this has been represented in the quilts fabrics and colours chosen. One of the P.E.O sisters, Shirley Murdock, described the quilts as having "mountain scenes", "lots of browns and greens" to reflect the desert as well as "lots of red" and even "Indian scenes" too. These games have raised as much as $1,700 over the years so there must be a good turnout - despite the prizes perhaps not being everyone's cup ot tea!

You might not have known it but quilts have been experienced a rival over the past few years. Murdock explained how people are really starting to appreciate the effort gone into making handmade quilts and it's not just old ladies who are getting in on the action. Quilting is fast becoming a popular hobby with younger women too.

This is also true of online bingo today - there is an awful stereotype in that it's just old ladies in church halls that play bingo but actually a lot of younger women are enjoying the thrills of the bingo balls and jackpots. You can see this from the increasing amount of TV adverts and celebrity ambassadors getting involved with online bingo promotion. The likes of The Only Way is Essex stars and glamour model Katie Price have all been associated with online bingo sites - so it's clearly not just for grannies!
