Masterson (5-0, 2.25 ERA) tried to be proper for the first Indians pitcher since Cliff Lee in 2008 to gain over his first six starts, but did not have capacity for a decision in a 5-4 catch over Detroit on Sunday despite allowing couple earned runs in seven innings.

"You're eternally thinking, 'Keep it close,'" Masterson told the Indians' magistrate website. "That's kind of the goal viewed like a starter."
He can still join the Angels' Jered Weaver -- scheduled to extent Saturday -- with six wins. Baltimore's Zach Britton furthermore will try for his sixth victory Friday.
Masterson has allowed four earned runs and 16 hits in 25 1/3 innings to reach 2-0 in four starts adverse to the Angels. He yielded only a homer to Torii Hunter in seven innings of a 6-1 triumph at Los Angeles on Sept. 7.
