Retro 4 Jordan Shoes for Basketball

Air Jordan Retros. In one word, epic. Each and every member of the worldwide sneaker community can all agree that these shoes are epic. The re-issued models of the Jordan shoes that Michael Jordan originally wore on the NBA hardcourt are being dropped on us, and dropped quite frequently. No complaints here. The Jordan Retros are legendary. Every single one of them. Some are more legendary than others. One of the most legendary Retros is the Air Jordan IV. This shoe will see a huge return in 2012. Several colorways are going to drop. Perhaps the most legendary of the bunch is the White/Black/Grey colorway. This Jordan IV colorway may be the most anticipated shoe of the upcoming year.

Tinker Hatfield, fresh off of designing the Jordan III, was tasked to design the Jordan IV. All he did was design another masterpiece. The newest design concept that Hatfield used on the IV was placing straps on the side of the shoe for increased ankle support. As a result, it was virtually impossible for Michael to sprain his ankle. The other design element that had never been seen before was the texturing of the midsole that gave the appearance of black speckled cement. Michael Jordan continued to dominate the NBA while wearing the Jordan IV. That year MJ won another scoring title averaging 32.5 points a game. He also made an appearance in the All-Star game and was named First Team NBA and All Defense.

This shoe was also front and center during the Spike Lee and Michael Jordan commercials that were extremely popular at the time. The same commercials that featured Lee as Mars Blackman insisting that "it's got to be the shoes"! These ads were quite effective in the marketing of the Air Jordan IV. In fact, a pair of Jordan IV's was featured in Lee's movie "Do The Right Thing".

There are plenty of the Jordan Retro IV's on the way. More than one colorway of this shoe, including a Doernbecher edition, will release this upcoming year. The White/Black/Grey colorway of the Jordan IV was originally retroed in 1999 and was a huge success. Retailers saw this shoe sell out in a matter of hours. It is now making a return appearance and again, will sell out in a matter of hours. Mark your calenders now, because February 18, 2012 is when this legendary Jordan will drop.

Not often does a pair of Jordan shoes for basketball dropping have such a huge impact on the sneaker world. This one most certainly will. Where will you be when it drops?
